This Privacy Policy explains why the Cumbrian Knee Clinic Ltd (CKC) collects information about you and how that information may be used.

What information does the CKC collect about you?

The CKC collects information on you when you register with the Cumbrian Knee Clinic (CKC) or submit an enquiry. The CKC also collects information when a referral is received from a healthcare professional requesting on your behalf a consultation with Mr Dawson.

You have a responsibility to inform us of any changes so our records are accurate and up to date for you.

For children aged 16yrs and under the CKC requires completion of a parental consent for data collection and treatment.

How will the CKC use the information about you?

The information collected is used to help to provide you with the best possible healthcare. It is used to liaise with the wider healthcare community – your GP and other relevant healthcare professionals. It is also used to request medical investigations and to keep updated the relevant Hospital where treatment is taking place.

Information may be used within the CKC for clinical audit to monitor the quality of the service provided

Accounting and credit control transactions. The CKC will use the information provided to submit invoices for payment to medical insurance companies and account holder or their representative.

How long does the CKC retain medical records?

Information submitted via the CKC website is stored in a secure location and removed within 60 days.

  • Your Private Medical Insurance Companies
  • Health code – private medical invoicing portal recognised by Insurance companies for billing purposes
  • The CKC may share your information with credit reference agencies and other companies to pursue debtors to the CKC.
  • Osteotomy patients –UKKORfor clinical audit purposes

How does the CKC maintain the confidentiality of your records?

The CKC is committed to protecting your privacy. All information is stored in a secure database. Electronic data is transferred by secure email.

No details shall be disclosed to any third party other than those stated above.

The CKC use external medical secretarial support to process personal information. These companies are bound by contractual agreements to ensure information is kept confidential and secure.

The CKC Website has a SSL (HTTPS) Certificate demonstrating the safeguarding of your personal data.

Access to personal information

You have a right under the Data Protection Act 1998 to request access to view or to obtain copies of what information the CKC holds about you. To request this, you need to do the following:

  • Your request must be made in writing to the CKC
  • There may be a charge to have a printed copy of the information held about you
  • We are required to respond to you within 40 days

Privacy Policy Changes

The CKC will review the privacy policy regularly. If a change is made the CKC will post a revised version on the Website.

If you are happy for your data to be used for the purposes described in this privacy notice then you do not need to do anything.
